Whilst most prize giving gets sorted out in May during your typical football season, one accolade, if you can call it that, looks pretty nailed on already.

Certainly, here in the Transfer Tavern, we’re already pretty decided over the recipient of ‘flop of the season’ even if it is only December.

The winner in question? Well in case you missed the title of this piece the award goes to a man by the name of Simone Zaza. Please, hold your applause.

The Italian striker has summed up everything wrong with West Ham’s campaign this year with his dire performances and has to be got rid of as soon as possible.

He’s been a truly terrible signing but the most worrying thing for Hammers fans must be that there’s been plenty more where that came from this year at the club.

That in mind, then, our landlord reckons these two need to hop it as well…

They say a picture says a thousand words but this one in fact only says five: ‘why did they sign me?’

Indeed, plenty of our Hammers fans here in the Transfer Tavern have asked similar as the Argentine striker has been absolutely woeful up until now. He hasn’t settled at all and when he has played he’s been completely off of the mark meaning he ideally needs to be shown the door as soon as possible. The next Carlos Tevez he certainly isn’t.

 Alvaro Arbeloa

Signing Arbeloa initially made sense to be fair.

The Spaniard has a wealth of experience from playing for the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid and the idea was that he’d use that to help keep West Ham calm at the back and bring through the younger players into a position they were weak in. Instead, though, it’s massively back-fired as he simply isn’t good enough anymore and has been caught out far too often as well as not even managing to nail the spot down.
