The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased that moves are being made to tie down the most important men at the club, but it’s fair to say that they also want to see a bit more attention placed on bringing in some new faces too.
Tottenham fell well short of a title challenge last season, and it’s fair to say that fans are expecting more next term. Realistically, though, the only way of reducing the gap is to bring in a few new players.
June itself has been disappointing thus far, given their lack of deals, and so in order to add some extra shine to the month – perhaps the Lilywhites could invest in a major talent before the month comes to an end.
One player that we think would be perfect is Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey.
Bailey is sure to be a man in demand this summer, owing to his brilliant season last time out. He’s really come of age over the last year, and whilst he’s still a player with incredible potential, he’s also a fantastic player for the present.
In particular, the Jamaican offers a brilliant and dynamic attacking threat. Known for his lethal pace, he’s able to drive at defences and make himself a real nuisance. He’s far from one dimensional though, and his technical ability means that he can dribble around players – rather than just run past them.
Tottenham, at present, are lacking a presence like he offers, and so he’d be a fantastic asset for Spurs. That directness is something that Mauricio Pochettino’s men need – and there aren’t many better than Bailey in that regard. He’d be a highly useful option from the start and from the bench.
