Very few players have ever represented both Aston Villa and Bayern Munich.
Philippe Coutinho is one of them, having featured for both clubs during loan spells away from Barcelona.
Villa eventually signed him permanently in 2022, but the move failed to deliver, with the Brazilian making just 22 further appearances before being sent out on loan twice and ultimately released in 2025.
The only other player to have played for both sides is Pepe Reina, who had a brief stint with Bayern during the 2014/15 season before later spending half a campaign at Villa in 2020.
Now, however, a third player could be about to join that exclusive list, with Bayern Munich targeting one of Villa’s standout performers.
Bayern Plotting Morgan Rogers Move
Bayern Munich are preparing a summer move for Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season, according to The Mirror.
The 23-year-old — described as “excellent” by England and former Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel — has enjoyed a remarkable rise since joining Villa from Middlesbrough in early 2024. Since then, he has developed into one of the club’s standout performers, registering 24 goals and 23 assists across all competitions.
His rapid progression has not gone unnoticed. While Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all tracking his situation, Bayern have now emerged as serious contenders, with the Bundesliga giants keen to bring him to Germany.
The club believe Rogers would fit seamlessly into their high-intensity attacking system under Vincent Kompany, which has already delivered a remarkable goal return this season.
Rogers also impressed on the European stage last term, further boosting his reputation and attracting interest from across the continent. Bayern see him as a player capable of continuing his upward trajectory at the highest level, offering both versatility and end product in the final third.
Aston Villa, however, are under no pressure to sell. The England international only signed a new contract in November, and the club are expected to demand at least £80 million to consider parting ways with one of their prized assets. That figure could rise even further depending on his performances in the coming months, particularly on the international stage.
Bayern Munich’s interest highlights just how far Rogers has come in a short space of time. While Villa will be reluctant to lose such an influential player, a substantial offer could test their resolve — especially given financial considerations.
If a deal does materialise, Rogers would join an exclusive group of players to have worn both the claret and blue of Villa and the iconic red of Bayern.
