Yaya Toure has released a statement via his official Facebook account, apologising to Manchester City and Pep Guardiola on behalf of his representatives in a big development in the recent saga that has been rumbling between the parties.
Toure’s agent has been very vocal in criticising Pep Guardiola for not playing the Ivorian midfielder and that had led the former Barcelona manager to demand some kind of apology before the midfielder played another game for the club, which now looks a step closer to happening.
Toure wrote: “I wish to apologise – on behalf of myself and those who represent me – to the management team and all those working at the club for the misunderstandings from the past.
Those statements do not represent my views on the club or the people who work there.
I have nothing but respect for Manchester City and only wish the best for the football club.
I am immensely proud to have played a part in the club’s history and want to help City succeed further. I live to play football and entertain the fans.
On that note, I would like to thank all of the fans for their messages through this difficult period. This means a great deal to me and my family.”
The former Monaco midfielder left Barcelona when Pep Guardiola took over at the Nou Camp and many had predicted some kind of problem when the Spaniard arrived at the Etihad in the summer.
It wasn’t just Toure he was quick to take out of the side, though. Joe Hart was sent out on loan to Torino whilst Samir Nasri made for Sevilla.
It now remains to be seen if Toure returns to the fold with City currently top of the league.
Our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern thinks Toure is an exceptional player on his day, and just thinks it would be best for all parties if he departed the Etihad Stadium in January.
