Whilst there was a spectacular night of Champions League football on show last night, the fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were more focused on what was happening off it!
Before Tottenham’s game with Monaco, Mauricio Pochettino caused a storm by proclaiming that Tottenham were the biggest club in England, as evidenced by their record-breaking attendance at Wembley last night.
It was an absolutely bizarre claim, especially considering Tottenham’s lack of success in recent years.
The proclamation, of course, came before a crushing 2-1 defeat to Monaco – leaving Pochettino likely to be regretting the claim…
Nonetheless, Pochettino went with it, and the punters in the Football Transfer Tavern still haven’t let the Tottenham fans in attendance this evening live it down.
Unsurprisingly, our Tavern is not the only destination that are finding the funny side of Pochettino’s claim.
