Bournemouth: Millwall move is right for Connor Mahoney

Connor Mahoney looks set to leave Bournemouth without making a single league appearance for the south coast club.

According to the Daily Mail, the Cherries have agreed a deal to sell the 22-year-old to Millwall in a move that looks to be for the best.

Mahoney, who spent last season out on loan at Birmingham City, faces almost an impossible task getting into Eddie Howe’s side should he remain at the Vitality Stadium.

A wide man who played on both flanks in the recent Championship campaign (as per WhoScored), the former England U20 international would have to do a lot to convince the Cherries boss he is worthy of a starting berth ahead of the likes of Ryan Fraser and David Brooks.

The Bournemouth duo were in excellent form, with the former racking up an impressive 14 Premier League assists and the latter finding himself in the running for PFA Young Player of the Year. Furthermore, Mahoney’s future looks to be away from the Vitality.

Of course, with Fraser continuing to be linked with a move to Arsenal (via Sky Sports), a space could open up should the Scotland international end up switching the south coast for north London.

However, given his importance to the side, Howe would surely reinvest the money he gets from any potential sale into a quality replacement, leaving Mahoney in an unfavourable position.

Based on all of that, now seems a good time for Bournemouth and the former Blackburn Rovers man to part ways.

Bournemouth fans, should Mahoney be sold this summer? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!
