Only yesterday in the Football Transfer Tavern it was claimed that Arsenal were not actually going to act on their admiration of Julio Cesar yet now it seems that according to Caught Offside the club are set to sign the keeper.
Arsenal have long been linked with a move for the stopper and given that Arsene Wenger is overhauling his squad this summer he has placed the stopper top of his transfer wishlist. At only £5 million for the Brazilian International, that is considerably less to spend than money on someone like Sunderland’s Simon Mignolet or even Hamburg’s Rene Adler who has turned down the chance of a move to the club.
Cesar is a decorated keeper who will not be content playing in the Championship given he turned out over 300 times for Inter Milan and won the Serie A title five times not to mention the Champions League during his time at the San Siro.
Arsenal are of course tracking a host of other players including Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic and have even been linked with a move for Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain as the summer approaches.
