Life’s pretty sweet for the Toffees in the Tavern right now, with their beloved Everton looking to embark on what could be an exciting long-term project under the stewardship of Ronald Koeman.
Though their first campaign under the Dutchman has been somewhat of a mixed bag, it’s clear those at Goodison Park are growing into their new found riches, largely spearheaded by the excellent Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian has been in wonderful form this season, once again establishing himself as one of the most promising young forwards in Europe. However, his reputation isn’t merely confined to this continent in particular.
Speaking to Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad, Tianjin Quanjian manager Fabio Cannavaro has been talking about the possibility of bringing the former Chelsea forward over the Far East. While their window has shut for the time being, the Chinese Super League has seen a number of big name European-based players move for lucrative sums.
Interestingly, Cannavaro suggests it’s Everton themselves who’d represent a problem in securing any deal, rather than the player.
“It is possible to speak with Lukaku”, said the Italian.
”The problem is Everton, who don’t want to let him go. The fact that he is only 23 years old is not the concern. He could very well come to China.”
Still, despite these comments, the Everton fans in the bar don’t look overly concerned.
