Celtic must look at persuading Sergio Leon to Scotland in January

Share

Celtic have amended what was a very poor start and recovered their form nicely, as they now sit in 2nd place.

It was an unrecognisable Hoops side that failed to qualify for the Champions League and lost two league games in quick succession but now Brendan Rodgers has his team back on track.

There is still work to do for them to endure another successful season in the Scottish Premiership as well as the Europa League, leagues that both require a great deal of squad depth.

Specifically for Celtic, the need for another striker is alarming seeing as they’re reliant on Griffiths and Edouard. It could only take one injury for either to be reduced to the sideline and therefore waiting in the wing if they conduct business right could be Real Betis forward Sergio Leon.

Leon, who is valued at £4.5 million on Transfermarkt, is a player with great quality and although rarely given a chance this term, last season, he was a reliable source of goals for Real Betis.

With 13 goals in all competitions last season, Sergio Leon’s goals were a big reason as to why Betis could qualify for the Europa League.

This season though has been a complete change for Leon as he’s only managed to start in one La Liga game, not enough for a player of his quality.

The 29-year-old still has a lot to offer and his services could be properly enjoyed at Celtic, with their side in need of a revamp up-front.

He scores goals at every club he plays for meaning Celtic shouldn’t worry about giving Sergio Leon time to settle in, he could be a vital player for them come the end of the season.
