Championship promotion hopefuls looking to rescue Dyer

kieron-dyer-image-1-105470668News has reached us in the Football Transfer Tavern that Kieron Dyer is looking for a new club having been released by QPR, and Simon Jones of the Daily Mail reckons he knows his destination.

Middlesbrough are reportedly keen on signing the free agent as they look to boost their squad for their Championship promotion push.

The 34-year-old has been released by QPR after suffering a wretched run of injuries. He was told he could find a new club just three days after scoring in the 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup, his first goal in almost six years.

He has been training at his former club Ipswich Town as he looks to keep up his fitness, although now it appears a former Ipswich team mate of his in the form of Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray is keen to give him a chance to prove his worth.

Dyer’s career has been stop-start for such a long time, that a pay-as-you-play deal may even be considered.

Dyer started his career at Portman Road where he was billed as one of the most exciting young players to emerge in years.

A big money move to Newcastle United followed where he played the best football of his career under Sir Bobby Robson, although a succession of cruel injuries have halted the progress of a man who was once considered a regular England international.

Any truth in Dyer to Middlesbrough or has this rumour gargled too much booze? Rate this rumour below.
