After a triumphant 2024/25 campaign that ended with UEFA Europa Conference League and Club World Cup titles and a return to the Champions League, Chelsea aren’t slowing down.
In fact, they’re shifting into overdrive.
The Blues have wasted no time in the summer transfer window, already making waves with an ambitious recruitment strategy.
The likes of Liam Delap, João Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Estevão Willian, and Dário Essugo have all arrived — a clear indication of Chelsea’s focus on youthful talent with elite-level potential. It’s a calculated evolution, blending emerging stars with a refreshed tactical identity under Enzo Maresca.
But the spending spree may not be over just yet. A high-profile Premier League star could be next.
Chelsea Hold Talks With Eze’s Camp

Chelsea have opened discussions with the representatives of Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, according to journalist Simon Phillips.
Writing on his Substack, Phillips revealed that “new talks” have taken place between the Blues and Eze’s camp, as the club weighs up whether to activate the England international’s release clause — reportedly set at £60 million upfront plus £8 million in add-ons.
While Chelsea may hesitate to pay the full amount in cash, Phillips notes they could look to negotiate a player-plus-cash deal, with Trevoh Chalobah potentially being offered in return.
Chalobah spent the first half of last season on loan at Selhurst Park and could appeal to Palace as part of a package.
Eze has not so quietly established himself as one of the Premier League’s most gifted attacking midfielders over the past few seasons, dazzling with his dribbling, movement, and flair in the final third.
Among his many admirers is Fulham manager Marco Silva, who offered high praise of the England star last season: “Everyone who loves football should enjoy seeing Eze on the pitch. He is a top, top young player and has so much quality with everything he does on the pitch.”
If Chelsea do make a serious move, they’ll be adding one of England’s brightest creative forces to a squad already stacked with promise.
