Chelsea are reportedly lining up an ambitious summer move for a revitalised former Aston Villa forward, as pressure builds following a disappointing run of results.
Chelsea’s 3–1 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Monday marked their sixth consecutive Premier League loss, underlining the scale of the rebuild required at Stamford Bridge.
With Joao Pedro one of the few positives on an otherwise difficult evening, it is clear that both recruitment and player sales will be crucial heading into the summer window.
Now, it appears the Blues already have a major attacking target in their sights.
Chelsea Eye Malen Move
According to Corriere dello Sport, both Chelsea are closely monitoring a move for the resurgent Donyell Malen, who has rediscovered his best form during a loan spell with Roma.
After a difficult spell at Aston Villa, the 27-year-old Netherlands international has exploded back into form in Italy, scoring 12 goals in just 17 appearances since joining Roma in the January transfer window. His impact has been immediate and significant, helping propel the club back into contention for Champions League qualification.
Such has been his influence that Roma are widely expected to activate their option to make the deal permanent, with a reported fee in the region of €25–30 million.
His performances have not gone unnoticed within the dressing room either, with teammate Neil El Aynaoui reportedly describing him as “incredible” during his standout run of form.
Given his current output and age profile, the fee is increasingly being viewed as one of the most attractive potential deals of the summer window.
