Chelsea have endured a difficult few weeks, with several areas of their squad exposed under Liam Rosenior.
Goalkeeping remains a concern, as Robert Sánchez and Filip Jørgensen have yet to fully convince the head coach.
While the midfield has shown stability, the wings have struggled, with Alejandro Garnacho failing to consistently make an impact. Up front, Rosenior will likely be searching for a replacement for Liam Delap this summer.
Defensively, the Blues also lack depth at centre-back, prompting the club to explore potential reinforcements to improve their backline.
Chelsea Monitoring Maxence Lacroix
Chelsea are reportedly keeping a close eye on Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix as they look to strengthen their central defence this summer.
According to TEAMtalk, the Blues are among several clubs tracking the 25-year-old Frenchman, with Liverpool and Aston Villa also showing interest. Lacroix joined Palace from Wolfsburg for £18 million at the start of last season and quickly established himself as a key figure in the Eagles’ back three.
Lacroix — described as having a “commanding presence” by Alan Shearer — has also made his senior debut for France, featuring in the final 30 minutes of their 2-1 win over Brazil last week.
With Chelsea evaluating the futures of players like Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile, and Wesley Fofana, adding a dependable centre-back is expected to be a priority for Rosenior in the upcoming transfer window.
Lacroix’s blend of experience, age, and physicality makes him an ideal candidate to shore up Chelsea’s defence for next season.
