Chelsea’s early momentum under Liam Rosenior has been one of the season’s more encouraging stories.
The Blues have won six of the new head coach’s first eight matches, with performances improving alongside confidence and dressing-room morale. Even their EFL Cup semi-final exit at the hands of Arsenal did little to dampen the optimism surrounding Rosenior’s impact, with his calm media presence and clear tactical ideas drawing praise.
However, that positive start has been accompanied by growing external interest in one of Chelsea’s standout performers. A player Rosenior himself has described as “unstoppable” when in full flow is now being monitored closely by a Premier League rival — a development that has caught many by surprise.
Chelsea, though, have moved quickly to shut down speculation by making their stance crystal clear.
Chelsea Name Palmer Price
Chelsea’s valuation of Cole Palmer has now come to light amid mounting links with Manchester United.
Palmer, a Manchester City academy graduate, has flourished since moving to Stamford Bridge in a £42.5 million deal. The 23-year-old has been nothing short of sensational in blue, racking up 51 goals and 31 assists across 114 appearances — including a combined 10 goal contributions this season alone.
According to TEAMtalk, Palmer has emerged as United’s “dream target” heading into the summer transfer window, with the Red Devils exploring the possibility of a blockbuster move. Chelsea, however, are under no pressure to sell and have reportedly placed a staggering £150 million price tag on their prized asset.
That figure would shatter Manchester United’s transfer record, which still stands at the £89m spent on Paul Pogba in 2016. It would also represent Chelsea’s biggest-ever sale, surpassing the fee received from Real Madrid for Eden Hazard in 2019.
Palmer recently addressed the speculation following Chelsea’s trip to Molineux, where he was seen cupping his ears in celebration.
Speaking after the match, he played down the noise surrounding his future: “Everyone loves to chat rubbish, don’t they? I don’t pay too much attention to it. You see things. But I feel like I’ve come from a strong place anyway so I don’t pay attention to it.”
