Real Madrid learn price for Chelsea midfield “animal” who is the “best player on the planet in his position”

Chelsea’s season is shaping up to be their most convincing campaign since the club’s rebuild began.

Enzo Maresca has his young squad humming: third in the Premier League, thriving in the Champions League, and finally showing balance in every area of the pitch.

Estevão has exploded onto the scene, João Pedro has thrived as both a false nine and No.10 during Cole Palmer’s absence, and defensively the Blues look transformed with Marc Cucurella back to his best and Reece James staying fit.

But the standout of the entire season has undoubtedly been Moises Caicedo — Chelsea’s relentless midfield engine who is now adding goals to his already elite defensive game.

And naturally, Europe’s biggest clubs are circling.

Real Madrid have added Caicedo to their long-term midfield shortlist, but anyone hoping to prise him away from Stamford Bridge faces a near-impossible task.

Chelsea legend Pat Nevin believes the Blues wouldn’t even consider negotiations unless an offer exceeded £200 million.

“Moises Caicedo is capable of playing in any team because he’s more than a destructive player, he’s an absolute genius defensively,” Nevin told Casino Hawks, per The Mirror. “Yes, he would interest Real Madrid, but I can’t see the numbers working. I’m struggling to see the numbers working.”

Chelsea paid £115m for Caicedo in 2023 and tied him to a contract that could stretch seven years. With his value skyrocketing since arriving, any move away is viewed as virtually unrealistic.

“You’re talking 200 odd million,” Nevin added.

And the praise doesn’t end with Nevin. Goalkeeper Robert Sánchez, who also shared a dressing room with Caicedo at Brighton, was even more emphatic.

“I don’t really need to talk about him but he’s an actual animal,” he said. “He’s the best player on the planet in his position. He’s one of the best in the world, who is better than him in that position? He’s a beast. Every 50-50, every challenge he wins and is so composed on the ball.”

For Real Madrid or anyone else, the message is simple: Caicedo is staying put — unless someone shatters football’s transfer record.
