Chelsea have made a habit of investing in Brazilian talent in recent years, and that approach is continuing to shape their squad.
João Pedro has led the line impressively in his debut season, while Andrey Santos has flourished in midfield since Liam Rosenior’s arrival. Elsewhere, youngster Estevão is already being tipped as the next superstar to emerge at Stamford Bridge.
With that pipeline proving successful, the Blues are now looking to tap into the Brazilian market once again as they plan for the future.
Chelsea Monitoring William Gomes
Chelsea have set their sights on FC Porto winger William Gomes as they continue their push to recruit elite young talent ahead of the summer window.
The Brazilian wide man has quickly become a player of serious interest, with the club’s scouting department following his progress closely in Portugal.
According to journalist João Pedro Cunha, Their interest has already gone a step further, with Chelsea representatives attending Porto’s recent clash with Nottingham Forest to assess him firsthand.
That growing attention comes amid fresh reports suggesting the London side could soon step up their pursuit. Gomes’ performances this season have certainly justified the hype, with the winger registering 15 goal contributions — 13 goals and two assists — across 40 appearances in all competitions.
As a result, his valuation has climbed significantly, with figures in the region of £55.8 million (€65m) plus add-ons being discussed. Chelsea are believed to be among the frontrunners at this stage, positioning themselves strongly in what could become a competitive race.
Chelsea’s continued focus on emerging Brazilian talent highlights their long-term vision, and Gomes appears to fit that model perfectly. With proven output and clear potential, he could be the next exciting addition to an already youthful and dynamic squad — if the Blues decide to turn their interest into a concrete move this summer.
