It’s no secret that Aston Villa were in serious financial problems after they lost the 2018 playoff final to Fulham back in May. The club were in a position where going into administration was a serious possibility and if it wasn’t for the investment of Nassef Sawiris and his company, NSWE, the Villa wouldn’t be anywhere near where they are now.
Christian Purslow says #avfc have no ‘financial worries’, thanks to NSWE, and that the club are working off a ‘clean balance sheet’. Purslow also confirms Smith will be given funds in January to strengthen the squad.

Whilst The Villains avoided administration, it still looked to a lot of supporters like they’d struggle to sign players in the coming windows as it was reported that they’d need to sell some of their top players to meet FFP regulations. Over the summer transfer window, Jack Grealish and James Chester were linked with big money moves away to Tottenham Hotspur and Stoke City, although both moves eventually fell through.
So you can understand the fans questions as to how they’ve got a supposedly ‘clean balance sheet’ as the need to sell players were very clear just a few months ago. However, that’s in the past now and The Villa Park faithful can look forward to better times under the management of Dean Smith with the money of Sawiris keeping them going. A lot of fans are expecting positive things and a productive January transfer window would only bolster their already strong position.

The Villa fans are sceptical over their club’s finances, although if they’re avoiding FFP and can sign new players then there will be little complaints from them over the coming seasons.
