Confirmed: Man United seal two-year deal in build up to big clash

With a mouth-watering trip to Anfield tonight just around the corner, the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are already seeking liquid help to calm their nerves.

Though we’re still at an early stage of the season, tonight’s North West clash between two titans of English football will no doubt serve as an indicator of either’s fortunes’ heading into a big campaign for both.

The Red Devils propping up the bar have been granted some good news by the club’s official website, who’ve revealed Sam Johnstone has signed another deal at Old Trafford.

Largely acting as a third-choice goalkeeper behind both David De Gea and Sergio Romero, the 23-year-old was recently linked with a move to Championship side Aston Villa.

Having progressed through the club’s academy since he was 10, the former England U20 international has represented the club at every level.

The official site has announced that his current contract will run into 2018, with the option of a further year.

“I am delighted to have signed a new contract”, said Johnstone.

”I have been with the club since I was 10 years old and have grown up here.

”The last 13 years have flown by and I have enjoyed every moment of my time here so far.

”I am working with world-class goalkeepers every day and now I am going to use all that experience to push myself and show the manager what I can do.”

Will Johnstone move into the first-team? Let us know below…
