The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern had high hopes for Bastian Schweinsteiger at Old Trafford…
Having moved to Manchester whilst Louis van Gaal was in charge, Schweinsteiger made an impressive impact when he was available, though injury often hampered the longevity of his spells in the first team.
Under Mourinho, though, his position has been largely phased out – and now the German has decided to take matters into his own hands.
As confirmed by Manchester United on Instagram, Schweinsteiger is set to leave the club for Chicago Fire – putting an end to a two-year spell in the Premier League.
See their confirmation below…
It is a disappointing end to what was a poor stint in Manchester for the German. Having achieved so much success both internationally and domestically, his tenure in the Premier League will likely not be remembered as he would have hoped.
The German has since posted a message to the Man Utd fans, which can be seen below…
Thanks to all fans, the whole staff and my teammates of @ManUtd! I will never forget my time with the club, but now it’s time for a change! pic.twitter.com/zYn2o5Cjsk
