Danny Rose made a late loan move to Newcastle at the end of the transfer window and the switch presents him with a good opportunity to refresh his career and possibly put himself in the shop window.
His contract at Tottenham expires in the summer and his future in North London looks unlikely after he fell out of Jose Mourinho’s plans. The left-back readily admitted that was true in a recent interview with BBC Radio 5 Live, and suggested it was one of the reasons why he was keen to move elsewhere, particularly as Euro 2020 is on the horizon.
Rose, 29, has not been afraid to voice his opinion in the past and he admitted that it was a little tough when the club let key players like Kyle Walker and Mousa Dembele leave, and subsequently lost some of the qualities which made them so successful previously. The defender also spoke about Mauricio Pochettino and missing White Hart Lane, and some fans were accepting of his point of view, agreeing that the team has lost its edge from the side which finished as runners up in 2016/17.
