Davy Klaassen admits he does not regret leaving Everton

It would be safe to say that Davy Klaassen did not have the best time of his career at Everton.

The midfielder was brought to Goodison Park by Ronald Koeman in the summer of 2017 for a fee of £24.3million, per Transfermarkt, plenty was expected of him.

The Dutch international had played a starring role for Ajax prior to his move to the Premier League as well as having broken into the national team.

However, he made just 16 appearances for Everton across all competitions before being sold to Werder Bremen last summer – for almost half the price it had cost them in the first price.

And, speaking in an interview to De Telegraaf, via Sport Witness, Klaassen does not hold back on his time at the club.

He revealed his happiness of playing in the Bundesliga with Bremen, whilst stating that he does not regret leaving Everton at all.

“I am very happy here, I really enjoy it,” he said.

“Because I play everything, but also because I am appreciated. We have a great team and the Bundesliga is a fantastic competition. I have not regretted my move from Everton to Werder Bremen for a second.”

The Verdict:

The 25-year-old is clearly enjoying his time at Werder Bremen and is getting his chance to play regular football again, something he could not say about his time at Goodison Park.

Klaassen clearly did not enjoy his time at Everton and it would be extremely difficult to blame him in regards to his view about that spell.

The Dutchman played just seven times in the Premier League and was hardly given a chance to show what he could do in the team.
