Deadline day: Arsenal should try and sign these 2 players before the window closes

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate to see some new faces at the Emirates before the window closes…

It has been a relatively quiet summer for the Gunners so far, having only signed Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac, with the latter coming in on a free transfer.

Indeed, given their poor season last time out, it’s strange that they haven’t invested more heavily, but such is the norm at the Emirates in recent years it seems.

Still, there’s enough time to change that and make a real splash on deadline day. So far, they’re looking likely to have a quiet last few hours, but the Gunners should look at their position in the league table and reconsider.

There are a host of players that they could look towards in an effort to improve their side.

With that said, Arsenal should try and sign these 2 players before the window closes…

Virgil van Dijk

Arsenal need a defender. Virgil van Dijk seemingly doesn’t want to play for Southampton. This one makes sense, on the surface.

Southampton clearly don’t want to sell their prized asset, but does it make sense to keep him if he isn’t going to play?

Arsenal haven’t spent big this summer, and whilst they may prefer to keep their outgoing finances down – a move for van Dijk could be just what they need.

He’s one of the Premier League’s best defenders, and he could really be the catalyst that the Gunners need to turn their season around.

 Julian Draxler

What a move this would be.

Alexis Sanchez is facing an uncertain future, given that his current contract expires next summer, and so signing a new winger would be a good move from the Gunners.

He could be available, too, with Neymar likely to take his place in the PSG first team this season.

Like van Dijk, he would be an expensive signing, but he would be worth every penny.
