The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news that Andrea Radrizzani’s company, Eleven Sports has beaten Sky Sports to La Liga’s TV rights for the next three years. The Italian who controls 100% of the shares of Leeds United weighed in with a decisive bid for La Liga’s TV rights and now holds a contract from 2019 until 2022. The Leeds fans propping our bar up have been getting excited with their owner’s latest coup as the money generated from Spanish football’s TV rights could potentially be pumped back into the Yorkshire club as they look to increase their intensity and push for promotion to the Premier League in the next few seasons. The move could also see Leeds gain a feeder club from Spain and could see the club go on future tours and face Spanish opposition.
Radrizzani founded Eleven Sports in 2015 and has been buying the TV rights to a number of competitions with the aim of expanding his company. The Whites are even going on an extremely controversial tour to Myanmar next week to take part in two post-season friendlies in an attempt to improve Eleven Sports reach into the far east. They already hold contracts in Singapore and Taiwan and broadcast La Liga matches in Poland and Belgium.
