The Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern have become well accustomed to rumours linking Toby Alderweireld with a move away from the club in recent weeks, but it appears that another defender’s future is now being called into question.
According to a recent report from Varsky Sports (via Sportinastorm) the newly-appointed Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has identified his compatriot Juan Foyth as a player he wants to sign for the Whites this summer. The report has cited Bielsa’s close relationship with Mauricio Pochettino as a factor which should boost Leeds’ chances of securing a deal for the 20-year-old.
Tottenham only signed Foyth from Estudiantes last summer for a fee in the region of £11.7 million, but he failed to break into the first-team last season aside from a handful of domestic cup appearances and 1 Champions League appearance.
However, the feeling from the club is that Pochettino has big plans for Foyth in the future, but it seems unclear as to whether he views a loan deal as beneficial to his development.
The report has only suggested that a loan deal is on the cards, however, the Spurs supporters were quick to voice their concerns over the reported interest and call for Pochettino to ensure that nothing more than a temporary deal is sanctioned.
Judging by the reaction on Twitter, it seems the supporters were pleased with how Foyth performed on his rare outings for the club last season and they are hoping that a move to Leeds will enhance his development next season.
Here’s what the Tottenham fans had to say in response to Foyth’s links with Leeds United…
Loan I don’t mind, just DO NOT sell this guy!

Could do him some good. Just don’t want to see us selling him. He’s been very promising in the cup games.
