Dons eager to ward off Blackburn interest in teenager

Share

fyvieBlackburn have been hit with a setback in their bid to sign 16 year old Aberdeen midfielder Fraser Fyvie after Dons manager Mark McGhee declared that the Premiership club would have to splash out a significant amount of money to sign the youngster with the club looking to also seal a long term contract for the talented teenager. McGhee declared

“If Blackburn or anyone else are interested, in the next couple of years we are going to be building a new stadium and £10 million would help towards that.”

Fyvie broke into the Aberdeen first team this season despite his tender age and has already made eight league appearances this season and is believed to be a great talent in Scotland akin to Rangers’ John Fleck. Aberdeen value Fyvie highly and consider him as important as any of their other first team squad members. McGhee commented on the club’s plans to renew Fyvie’s contract by saying

“Fraser is playing in the first team for youth-team money. That’s not fair, so we are trying to address that on his behalf.”

It’s highly unlikely that Sam Allardyce will take McGhee’s £10 million valuation seriously and the club will still consider making an offer for the youngster though much lower than McGhee would hope for.

During this period I became a big follower of Spanish football which has remained with me since returning to England and I pride myself on my knowledge of the European leagues
