The Gunners fell to a shocking 4-0 defeat against Liverpool last weekend, and that will certainly live long in the memory amongst the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern.

One big reason for the nightmare at Anfield came in the midfield. Arsenal struggled to contain the Liverpool attack, with a lack of discipline plaguing Arsene Wenger’s side.

As a result, the Frenchman has a big decision to make in the heart of the midfield, and perhaps it would be wise to replace the offensively minded Aaron Ramsey with a player of a more defensive disposition.

That player could be Mohamed Elneny. The Egyptian is a very solid option, and there’s more than a few reasons why he deserves a chance to shine.

With that said, here are 2 reasons why Elneny should start for Arsenal vs Bournemouth instead of Aaron Ramsey…

 Defensive Solidity

The most obvious reasoning comes in the form of Elneny’s defensive qualities.

The Egyptian is far more solid defensively than Ramsey. Ramsey, as a more offensively minded player, often drifts forward into more attacking positions simply by nature. That, though, isn’t what a player playing in the pivot needs to do.

Instead, they should sit back and help protect the defence. This is where Elneny comes in.

The midfielder is solid in the tackle and great at breaking up play – that’ll be key against the Cherries.

 Poor Form

Ramsey’s poor game against Liverpool was not a solitary bad performance. Rather, his form, in general, hasn’t been very good in recent weeks.

Arsene Wenger’s management has always been a meritocracy, and that is something that should facilitate the return of Elneny to the Arsenal first team.

He hasn’t had much of an opportunity since moving to Arsenal, and he needs a decent run of games. Given the poor form of the Gunners, this is the perfect chance to change that.
