The West Ham United supporting punters were bitterly disappointed last weekend following the Hammers’ 3-2 reverse at Bournemouth, which saw many of the devoted faithful go heavy with the bottle on Saturday night.

It hasn’t been a great season for West Ham, with the club struggling to settle into life in their new home and the departure of Dmitri Payet has also left a big void to fill at the London-based club.

Croatian boss Slaven Bilic has a tough task on his hands to revive the club’s fortunes and the West Ham legend knows that his time must start to pick up more points against the teams around them in the Premier League between now and the end of the campaign.

Ahead of their game with champions Leicester City this weekend several of the West Ham fans here in the Tavern have started to discuss team selection and Lee Clarke got in on the act by selecting two players who could be axed this weekend.

Pedro Obiang

The big midfielder didn’t have the best of games in last weekend’s reverse at Bournemouth and he could get the chop from today’s team.

The Spanish midfielder has been in decent form this season, although last weekend’s performance could be an indication of slight fatigue, which could lead to a rest from Slaven Bilic.

One West Ham fan is sat quietly munching on a packet of cheese and onion here in the Tavern and he thinks that Obiang could find a rest beneficial, stating that it could be just the kick up the backside he needs!

Manuel Lanzini

The creative midfielder has been a mainstay in the West Ham team this season but he hasn’t really pulled up any trees when called upon.

The Hammers could do with a little bit more solidity in the side and the Argentinean could be disappointed when the team is announced this weekend.

One West Ham fan is sat chatting to his pals in the Tavern and he rates Lanzini as a player, although he does concede that the team doesn’t look quite as solid when he is present on the pitch.
