Drop them: Poch must axe these 2 players from today’s starting Spurs XI against Southampton

The Spurs fans here in the Transfer Tavern are absolutely delighted at how their 2016/17 campaign is going, with many of their supporters of the belief that they can actually secure the second place finish that eluded them last season.

There is also a chance that the North Londoners could be successful in the FA Cup too, with Spurs facing a semi-final with Chelsea at the end of April – much to the delight of the supporters here in the Tavern.

Spurs are back to the league this afternoon though and Southampton are their next opponents in a game which looks set to be a cracking fixture between two fluent sides.

With today’s game being eagerly anticipated by both sets of supporters, the ardent Spurs fans have ordered a round of shots and began to discuss today’s team selection.

Lee Clarke takes a look at two players who should be axed by the Spurs boss for today’s game.

Kieran Trippier

The ex-Burnley right-back did a grand job last weekend in the FA Cup game against Millwall but he is likely to be replaced by Kyle Walker for this afternoon’s game.

The Spurs fans here in the Tavern were delighted to see Trippier play last week, although one of our bigger drinkers in the bar does concede that when you have a player like Walker in your ranks, it is vital he plays when it comes to the league.

Michel Vorm

It goes without saying that French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris should be restored to the starting line-up for Spurs this weekend, after earning a well-deserved rest in the FA Cup last weekend.

One Spurs fan is enjoying a large cocktail from the landlord’s menu and he thinks that although Spurs are lucky to have two quality goalkeepers, it goes without saying that Lloris is firmly number one.
