Drop them: Pochettino must axe these 2 players from today’s starting Spurs FA Cup XI against Chelsea

The Spurs supporting Tavern regulars have been in great spirits of late after their team decided to take the Barclays Premier League by storm, with the North London-based club roaring to within just four points of leaders Chelsea last weekend.

The Spurs fans have arrived nice and early into the Tavern this morning ahead of their FA Cup semi-final showdown with Chelsea and the supporters are hopeful of claiming a psychological advantage on their London rivals today.

Argentinean boss Mauricio Pochettino is fast becoming one of the finest managers in European football and the Spurs supporters here in the Tavern are relishing what their club might achieve in future years under his guidance.

Our landlord has overheard a couple of Spurs supporting drinkers discussing team selection ahead of today’s FA Cup game and he decided to look at two players who should face the chop ahead of the huge game with Chelsea.

Kyle Walker

It might seem an odd suggestion to say that Pochettino should drop one of the best right-backs in world football on current form but loyalty and sentiment could come into consideration here.

Deputy full-back Kieran Trippier has played 90 minutes in each of Spurs’ four FA Cup games prior to the semi-final and that could be enough to earn him the chance to start against Chelsea.

One Spurs fan is sat tucking into a bacon butty and a pint of cider here in the Tavern and he agrees that he wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Trippier get the nod this afternoon.

Son Heung-min

The Korean forward could drop to the bench this weekend as Mauricio Pochettino might choose to close up the midfield and go for someone with a little more steel to stifle the threat of Chelsea.

One Spurs fan is sat in the basking hot sunshine in the Tavern’s beer garden and he thinks that Son could be unfortunate this weekend, stating that he seems sure that Pochettino will leave him out for the game.
