According to a report from RTVE, Arsenal have tabled a bid of 25 Million Euros for Real Madrid forward, Karim Benzema.
Spanish media are reporting that Benzema might be willing to join up with the North London club as he has struggled to establish himself as a first team regular under Jose Mourinho.
The former Lyon striker failed to make an appearance in either the Spanish cup final or the Champions League games against bitter rivals, Barcelona. Mourinho has overlooked the striker several times throughout the season, opting to play Emmanuel Adebayor ahead of Benzema particularly in the big matches.
Even though, the Frenchman has found minutes difficult to come by for Los Merengues this season he has still managed to contribute with an impressive 23 goals in all competitions. Benzema rejected Manchester United two years ago to sign for the Madrid club but has struggled to make a lasting impact in his time at the Bernabeu with Higuain employed as a lone striker when fit.
Reports suggest that Benzema would now welcome a move to the English game in order to establish himself as a world class centre forward. Arsene Wenger is looking to add to the Arsenal squad this summer after another disappointing season and Benzema would be an experienced addition to the team. The reports suggest that Benzema would be keen to join up with the French contingent of the Arsenal squad and form a partnership with Robin Van Persie.
Mr Wenger could make a great statement of intent this summer if he is to bring a player of Benzema’s quality and profile to the Emirates Stadium.
