Roberto Mancini has told the Manchester City hierarchy to buy him Cesc Fabregas to fire them to Premier League glory next season.
The Manchester City boss has only just secured a Champions League spot but is already planning on challenging for the domestic title next season and says the Arsenal captain is the man who could bring the trophy to Eastlands.
The Sun reports that the Italian manager said “Cesc Fabregas” when asked what player could make his side Premier League champions for the first time in the Manchester club’s history.
Arsene Wenger however, will not want to sell his most prized possession this summer as he looks to build a new squad but a bid of around £50 Million might be too hard to resist.
City will have to face competition from Fabregas’s boyhood club, Barcelona if they are to sign the Spanish international. Fabregas is known to favour a move back to Barcelona but with Mancini’s spending power, the Spaniard might be tempted to pack up north and head to City. Fabregas would add a new dimension to the midfield at Manchester City and the prospect of him linking up with Spanish compatriot, David Silva would get any Premier League fan excited.
The likelihood of Fabregas leaving Arsenal increases every summer after continuous trophy-less seasons at the North London club. Fabregas has spoken of his desire to win a trophy with Arsenal before he leaves but after yet another season without silverware Fabregas needs to start taking his own career into account and not just stick around to please the Arsenal fans. If Fabregas is to leave the Emirates this summer then the most likely destination would be Barcelona with its sentimental value to the Catalan and its fantastic history.
The question is, whilst Wenger and Guardiola are at each other’s throat again over this whole issue, will Mancini be able to come and steal a deal for a signing that, according to the Manchester City boss, will win them the Premier League?
