West Ham United already have a number of midfielders on their books at the club, however, they have been impressed with one of their men’s performances away from the club.
Edmilson Fernandes has been on loan at Fiorentina this season and has become a regular for La Viola with his impressive displays.
The Hammers are thought to be keeping tabs on how well the Switzerland international has been doing, having been disappointed by the way he performed for them last season.
However, his solid contributions for the Serie A outfit could come to haunt Manuel Pellegrini’s side, as Fiorentina are thought to have the option to sign the 22-year-old on a permanent deal.
It has also been confirmed that West Ham are unable to recall the player from his temporary switch in Florence.

Fernandes has become a key player for Fiorentina this season and has put in a number of impressive performances that has seen him involved with the Switzerland national team.
West Ham have had a number of injuries to the players they already have in midfield and the 22-year-old would have been a welcomed option for Pellegrini to have at times.
Despite keeping a close eye on him, should Fernandes continue to perform the way he is, they may have to be resigned to the fact that they will lose him for good in the summer.
