End of Boufal: Southampton must replace flop with World Cup star

Southampton fans here in the Tavern will be desperate to see an exciting winger brought to the club this summer, with Mark Hughes looking for a better season next time around.

The Saints will definitely need to make a number of changes over the course of the summer transfer window, with relegation being a possibility once again in the next campaign. Indeed, strengthening in attacking areas will be key this summer after producing a disappointing goal record.

Therefore, one player that the Englishman may want to replace is Sofiane Boufal. The 24-year-old has struggled to come to terms with Premier League football since he made the move to St Mary’s, as he has been wasted talent on the South Coast thus far.

So without further ado, Southampton must replace Boufal with this World Cup star…

Marko Pjaca

The 23-year-old will be very important for Croatia at the World Cup as a very talented midfielder.

Indeed, Marko Pjaca could tear almost any defence apart with his explosive pace and incredible dribbling ability, which would definitely benefit Southampton’s struggling strikers. The Croatian’s ability to operate effectively on either flank will be key to getting support to any of the forwards, with Manolo Gabbiadini thriving off any service into the opposition’s box.

Therefore, Mark Hughes may want to keep a close eye on the tricky winger this summer, as a couple of impressive performances at the World Cup could force the Saints into moving for him either on loan or in the form of a permanent deal.
