While the Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern were happy they bid farewell to the FA Cup at White Hart Lane with a win over London rivals Millwall, the 5-0 victory obviously came at a cost.
Harry Kane limped off with a nasty looking ankle injury and the England international could be out for a while, seriously impacting their hopes of either a cup win or finishing in the top four, such is the magnitude of his importance to Mauricio Pochetino’s vibrant young team.
He’s scored 24 goals this season and the 23-year-old’s absence was a notable one when he missed around two months of the season earlier on, causing the Lilywhites in the bar major concern as the season enters its business end. Indeed, it’s not just the fans who’ve reacted with concern of the matter, teammate Eric Dier has admitted his injury will impact the first-team.
With only Vincent Janssen backing him up in central striking berths, these are nervous times on Hotspur Way for everyone it seems.
“Obviously Harry is very important for us, a big part of this team in many ways. I don’t know how bad it is. Hopefully he is fit as soon as possible”, said Dier (via the Daily Mirror.)
“There aren’t many players in the world you can replace Harry with but it is a chance for someone else to step up. Not just the strikers but the whole team.”
