After a stellar season last year, the Lilywhites were expected to kick on and pursue a title challenge this year – especially given how close they came last season.
Whilst Leicester City pipped them towards the end of the campaign, it was a two-horse race for much of the year – and whilst Leicester were expected to drop off this season, many thought that Pochettino’s men would go one step further.
However, in reality, the very opposite has happened – and if anything, Tottenham are far worse this year than they were last season. Currently sat in 5th place in the Premier League, a host of Tottenham’s first team players are disappointing the fans in the Tavern.
A number of players have drawn the ire of the Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern, but amidst all of the negative views of the disappointing players – one star has continued to impress.
After being plucked from the lower leagues a couple of years ago, Spurs midfielder Dele Alli has gone from strength to strength – and this season might be his best yet – with the Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern waxing lyrical about his quality.
It would appear as though Alli’s impressive exploits in the Premier League have not gone unnoticed outside of the Tavern, either, with the Mirror reporting that one of Europe’s biggest sides is lining up a move for the talented Englishman.
According to the Mirror, Real Madrid are lining up a move for the young Englishman – with a summer move possibly on the cards.
This news has seriously concerned the Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern, many of whom think that the lure of Madrid may be too much for Alli to resist.
Our landlord thinks that Alli’s departure could spell disaster for Tottenham, with the 8 Premier League goals that he has contributed this season proving vital to Tottenham’s cause.
