A few of the Everton fans standing by the jukebox in the Football Transfer Tavern are fearing the worst…
Romelu Lukaku has been a revelation since his arrival at Goodison Park.
Everyone knew he was good when he made a £28 million move from Chelsea in 2014, but the young Belgian has quickly developed into one of the most prolific young forwards in Europe.
His fine form has, expectedly, increased his stock in the continent; and that gives Everton cause for concern with regards to his long-term future at Goodison Park.
The Blues managed to ward off interest from Chelsea over the summer, but when a European giant like Bayern Munich comes calling – they might not be so lucky.
According to the Sun on Sunday, Bayern Munich are readying a record-breaking £65 million move for Lukaku, with the Belgian impressing the German giants with his Everton form.
They add that Munich’s head of recruitment was in attendance to see Lukaku last week – and he was seemingly impressed with what he saw.
This interest can be seen one of two ways by Everton. The immediate reaction from the Blues in the Tavern was one of fear – they really do not want to lose their star man.
However, on the flip side of that – Lukaku was signed for less than £30 million. Selling him for £65 million would represent a huge profit margin – and that can only be a good thing.
Nonetheless, our landlord thinks that Everton should do all they can to hold on to the Belgian. He has proven this season how important he is to their cause – and if he leaves, Koeman could be in trouble.
