The Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have very high hopes for him…
Man Utd’s youth academy has produced some real gems as of late, and Angel Gomes look set to be the latest in a long line of talented stars.
At just 16-years-old, Gomes has consistently been playing in groups beyond his years – and a Man Utd first team role simply cannot be too far off.
However, whilst Man Utd surely have big things planned for the talented youngster; it would appear that his exploits at youth level have not gone unnoticed.
According to Manchester Evening News, Barcelona are reportedly keeping tabs on Gomes – with the talented attacking midfielder seemingly impressing the Spanish giants.
This news will no doubt come as a blow to the Man Utd fans in the Tavern, many of whom had touted Gomes for a long-term stay in Manchester.
Whilst Barca have yet to make a move, the report does seem to suggest that they will be keeping an eye on him – and a move could follow thereafter.
Gomes was signed by Man Utd as a 13-year-old, and has been impressing in recent months.
Our landlord thinks that whilst he would be perfect for Barcelona, Man Utd has proven itself time and time again as a hotbed for European talent – and we have seen with the emergence of Marcus Rashford just how effective their academy can be.
