Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have taken a nervous gulp of their pints this morning, as they’ve expressed their concerns following major news from the continent.
Spanish outlet Diario Gol reports that Barcelona have chartered a plane to fly to England in order to discuss a transfer for Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin, with the Catalan giants making the Spaniard their priority target this summer.
Bellerin, who left Barcelona as a youngster, has excelled with Arsenal after breaking into the first-team and is widely considered to be one of the best young defenders in the world, with the Gunners having high hopes for him.
Arsene Wenger’s side secured the services of Bellerin to a long-term contract, which runs until 2023, but Barcelona’s interest in the right-back has not cooled- although Marca state Arsenal’s price-tag of £34m is a problem.
All the news regarding Bellerin comes amidst a potential wealth of changes at Arsenal, as manager Arsene Wenger is rapidly approaching the end of his contract and the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are reaching the final years of their deals.
Our landlord expects all the uncertainty to be solved shortly though, as he believes a number of the players at the Emirates Stadium will secure new deals.
