Romelu Lukaku has quickly developed into one of Europe’s finest goalscorers at Everton – with the Belgian forward currently sitting 3rd as he bids to become the Premier League’s highest scorer this season.
His growth over the last few years finally led to speculation in the Tavern over the summer that he could leave the club, with many feeling that he deserves to be playing for a better side than Everton.
In truth, even the Everton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern think that he should be playing at a better club; but they weren’t expecting Toffees boss Ronald Koeman to come out and say the same thing.
Speaking to HLN, Koeman has revealed that he sees Lukaku’s long-term future away from Goodison Park.
He said: “His potential is greater and higher than Everton“.
He also suggested that a move for Barcelona could be on the cards, and compared the forward with Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert – very high praise indeed.
The Everton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are slightly concerned about this, as Koeman is not matching their level of ambition. They think that he should always be keen to hang on to his best players.
Our landlord thinks that Lukaku could move from Everton at the end of the season.
