Besiktas are aiming to tempt Everton striker Cenk Tosun back to Turkey, according to Fanatik, via Inside Futbol.
The striker has been pushed to the fringes at Goodison Park, having struggled to make an impact in the Premier League after joining from the Turkish giants for £27m in 2018, as reported by Sky Sports at the time.
Besiktas, who have a guaranteed place in the Europa League group stages this season, are trying to convince Tosun he should return to the club.
His status in the squad has been weakened even further than it already was by the arrival of Moise Kean, which was highlighted when the 19-year-old was brought off the bench against Crystal Palace, while Tosun was left on it.
That Dominic Calvert-Lewin started the game indicates he is also ahead of the Turkey international in the Everton pecking order of strikers.
Tosun started 10 Premier League games last season, coming off the bench 15 times, scoring three goals and assisting three more, as per WhoScored.
He also didn’t have much of an impact in general play, making 0.5 key passes and 0.1 dribbles per game, while completing 70.5% of the passes he attempted.
If Tosun does return to Besiktas it is unlikely he will be missed much by Everton, especially after the arrival of Kean.
He has failed to make much of an impact at Goodison Park, so it could also be best for the player’s career if he is able to return to Besiktas and become a prevalent player for a side again.
