Replying to a statistic published by Everton’s official account, Toffees supporters have been hailing loan defender Djibril Sidibe following the revelation that he made eight tackles during their 3-2 away win at Watford – more than any other Goodison Park player in any game this season.
The Frenchman, who is currently on loan from Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco, has impressed since becoming the preferred full-back option over Seamus Coleman – making 3.7 tackles and 1.9 interceptions per game on average this season over 15 starts in the league, as per WhoScored.com. Coleman, by comparison, hasn’t been able to replicate those numbers in the games he has started – making just 1.3 tackles and one interception.
Indeed, it appears Sidibe has played his way into Carlo Ancelotti’s favour – prompting many supporters to beg the club to make his loan deal permanent. The 27-year-old also has title-winning experience, having been a part of Monaco’s 2016/2017 Ligue 1 winners alongside the likes of current Premier League stars Bernardo Silva and Fabinho.
Here’s how Toffees supporters lauded the France defender on social media.
