Former Everton striker Gary Lineker has stated that the squad that he played in on Merseyside was “the best team” of his club career.
Lineker, who is now a presenter on BBC’s Match of the Day, only spent one season at Goodison Park which resulted in a season full of records for the 58-year-old.

He scored 30 goals in 35 games in all competitions for Howard Kendall’s side in a season that was full of almosts after losing the FA Cup final and finishing 2nd in the old First Division to their hated rivals.

Speaking to BT Sport, Lineker was discussing his previous clubs and some of the football shirts that he wore. When Everton came up, he went on to say that it was the “best team” that he played for during his time as a player.
