Everton fans are asking many questions following Allardyce’s comments on 26-year-old

Everton supporters have been in high spirits in the Transfer Tavern in the last few days after seeing their team get back to winning ways in the Premier League courtesy of a 3-1 success over Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Saturday.

Sam Allardyce’s men went into their clash with the Eagles off the back of a 5-1 thumping at the hands of Arsenal in their preceding league encounter, a result which saw them slip to within seven points of the division’s bottom three. Nonetheless, the Toffees picked up a vital three points on Saturday as goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson, Oumar Niasse, and Tom Davies sealed a routine victory for the Merseysiders, with Luka Milivojevic’s late penalty nothing more than a consolation for Roy Hodgson’s well-beaten Palace.

Subsequently, there have been many delighted Evertonians in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are already eagerly anticipating their next Premier League clash against Watford, even if it is in two weeks’ time.

In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Toffees fans to discuss, not least recent comments from manager Allardyce regarding January signing Cenk Tosun, who cost the club £27 million last month.

The Turkey international has found the going difficult in his first few weeks in English football, making just three appearances for the Toffees so far, and failing to net in any of them.

And manager Allardyce has admitted that the 26-year-old is struggling with the pace of the Premier League, and even suggested that he won’t play him until his team have confirmed their top-flight status this term.

And these comments have unsurprisingly stimulated quite a response from Everton fans on Twitter, many of whom are surprised and somewhat baffled given the great lengths the club went to get a deal done for Tosun in January…

We were 3-0 up at the time. And why when we win Allardyce claims credit, when lose it’s the players. Why did he buy Tosun if he cannot cope with the English game? Too many whys for me, get rid of Sam in Summer. Shouldn’t have brought him in

I am really concerned we spend £30m on a player we desperately needed in january who needed to be ready to go and then decide he’s not fit enough. I have no problem not playing him if he’s not fit, i do have a problem the fact we signed him at all if thats the case
