Everton fans are in dreamland as they watched a smiling Andre Gomes walk out onto the pitch at Goodison Park. The Portuguese midfielder suffered a fracture-dislocation in his foot back in November after a Son Heung-Min crunch tackle and supporters have been eagerly awaiting his return and couldn’t be happier that he’s back in action.
Many Blues fans have definitely missed Gomes in the starting eleven and luckily for them, they got their wish on Sunday. The 26-year-old played 82 minutes against Manchester United and maintained 80% passing accuracy (via FotMob).
Gomes has been absent from the Everton first-team for more than three months and his return couldn’t have been a sweeter moment. He reached out to the fans yesterday, sending a heartfelt message on his return. “From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!” Gomes tweeted.
Fans are gushing over his attitude as he returned to the first team action, with one fan branding him an ‘advertisement for courage’ while another claims he is the ‘future Everton captain’.
