Everton’s 37-year-old goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg has reportedly admitted he does not expect a new contract at the end of this season and will be leaving in the summer.
According to Phil Kirkbride of the Liverpool ECHO, the Dutchman has braced himself to depart from Goodison Park in June upon the expiry of his contract and does not expect to hold talks regarding an extension.

Stekelenburg joined the Blues in 2016 and marked Ronald Koeman’s first signing of his Everton era (via BBC Sport). Since his arrival on Merseyside, the shot-stopper has fallen way down the pecking order, behind the likes of Jordan Pickford and Joao Virginia. His last Premier League appearance was in the 2016/17 season and he has since played just five matches across all competitions in that time (via Transfermarkt).
