Everton fans came together on Thursday to wish a very happy birthday to former Evertonian turned Arsenal coach, Mikel Arteta.
The club’s official Twitter has posted a montage of every Arteta goal for the Blues and supporters are loving it, as well as sending well wishes after he was recently taken ill.
The Spaniard joined Goodison Park in 2005 from Real Sociedad for £2.5million after previously enjoying a loan stint with the English side (via World Football). Arteta accumulated 35 goals and 33 assists across 209 appearances in blue, before he made his final career move to Arsenal in 2011 where he retired five years later (via Transfermarkt).

Lots of fans flooded in to wish their former midfielder a happy birthday and gush over his impressive goal tally from the middle of the park.
One fan has marvelled at the 38-year-old, saying ‘he was quality in blue’, whilst another claimed Arteta gave them their ‘best memory’ at Goodison.
He gave me my best memory in the lower G with that equaliser against Fiorentina!

Top top player for us….never quite the same after the injury and the player at Arsenal was half the one we had. Good to know he’s recovered.
