Everton fans in the Tavern aren’t happy with current manager, Sam Allardyce, as high hopes for the season in August were quickly extinguished to leave the taste of disappointment in the mouths of a number of Toffees.
Sam Allardyce, or “Big Sam” as he’s known by most English football fans, can’t seem to catch a break with Everton fans. The ex-England boss made his name in the Premier League with over 250 matches in charge of Bolton over a spell of seven and a half years. He’s also managed Blackburn, Sunderland, Newcastle, West Ham and Crystal Palace, his total of seven different Premier League clubs making him the manager to have the most jobs since the league was formed.
However, after being appointed England manager in July 2016, Big Sam lasted only one game and three months before being sacked after allegations of malpractice were made against him. After briefly retiring following his 67 days in charge of England, Allardyce took the Everton job with the club sitting in a dismal 13th place on the 30th November last year. Since taking over Big Sam has improved Everton’s fortunes somewhat, lifting them into 9th, sitting just three points of off a 7th place finish and the potential European football that could come with it.

“Write this season off” we’re 3 points off 7th which might well get European football back. Amongst several problems with Allardyce is the fact that he simply doesn’t have the ambition to get the club to a point where we can challenge the top 6.
