Everton fans are reminiscing over Romelu Lukaku’s era at the club following his recent Instagram post. The striker was asked about his best memory with the Blues, to which he replied ‘My first game at Goodison’. As a result, many Toffees are wishing the Belgian was still at Merseyside.
Lukaku departed the club in 2017 to join Manchester United after finishing the second highest scorer in the Premier League with 25 goals. He tallied 42 goals across his spell with the Red Devils before joining Inter Milan last summer.
Despite finishing just one place lower than they did in Lukaku’s last season, Everton’s 2017/18 saw them score 26 less goals than when the Belgian was leading their front-line (via FootyStats). The Blues struggled to replace Lukaku, with Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse failing to make much of an impact.
However, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s current fiery form, fans are can’t help but imagine the 22-year-old as Lukaku’s strike partner. One fan has described Lukaku as the ‘best player I’ve seen play in the royal blue’.

Technically, the best player I’ve seen play in the royal blue. Finishing and hold up play was second to none.
