Everton: Fans reminisce about Mikel Arteta’s ‘rocket’ against Bolton in 2006

Everton supporters have been looking back on their side’s 1-0 win against Bolton Wanderers, more specifically Mikel Arteta’s wonder strike which won them the game.

The game was fairly uneventful until the Spaniard’s 25-yard drilled shot deceived goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen and left him unable to keep out the strike.

Sam Allardyce’s side would have considered themselves unlucky to be behind after chances from Ivan Campo and the late Gary Speed, but they were unable to convert any of their opportunities.

Manager David Moyes described Arteta’s goal as “special” and credited the former Spain international for stepping up to the plate in the absence of Tim Cahill.

Supporters loved watching back the footage of the goal and made their feelings clear on social media.
