Gylfi Sigurdsson has been one of Iceland’s main players during their meteoric rise over the last few seasons, qualifying for both Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup, but his penalty record is one he may want to slide under the carpet.
The Icelandic playmaker has attracted a fair amount of criticism for his shoddy statistics from the spot, missing three out of his last four league penalties, with Sigurdsson also failing to bag one for his country at the weekend during their 2-1 win over Moldova.
The Toffees midfielder also missed an international spot-kick back in October, with the 30-year-old still not having much luck in that respect recently.
However, from a more positive point of view, Sigurdsson has been managing to raise his game after starting the season off very slowly – with the former Swansea favourite scoring a screamer for Everton in their 2-0 win over West Ham and still having an influence for his country away from the penalty spot.
Regardless, that didn’t stop a section of fans from roasting him for yet another miss – here’s what they had to say on social media.
And Sigurdsson missed a pen (nothing new there)

Poor that. Surely he has to be taken off them now? I’m never confident when he’s standing over the ball anymore!

Sigurdsson missed another penalty?? Mad how someone who strikes the ball so well is awful at pens. Same with Messi.
